Paul Workman has lived in Southwest Travis County for 25 years.
It is no wonder that grassroots conservative Republicans from
HD 47 have endorsed Paul Workman…

“Paul Workman has been an active member of this community for years, creating jobs all across Travis County and dedicating himself to common sense public policy. He has the right vision for creating the jobs and opportunities of the future for Travis County, which is why I’m endorsing his candidacy for 2010.”

Bill Welch

“I have had the privilege of knowing and serving alongside Paul Workman since 2004. Throughout our relationship I have witnessed firsthand his commitment to conservative family values, serving others, and operating with unquestionable integrity. Paul is an excellent leader both corporately and religiously. Any community would be well-served by Paul Workman. He will consistently keep his word and work tirelessly to assist others."

Allen James
Southern Baptist Church Pastor

I can’t tell you how pleased I am that you are offering yourself for public service as State Representative. I know of nobody that I have greater confidence in or respect for. Not only are you an example for people who want to be leaders in business, but also for those who want to be leaders in the family and church lives. You are also a man who has proven his love for our country and those things that have made it great. I commend your efforts, and I offer you my complete support.

Successfully Yours,

I have known Paul Workman for many years and while he may be an excellent businessman and all around good guy as well as a fair tennis player, he is MOST CERTAINLY not a liberal. I think I would know.

Dr. Robert E. Balon
CEO, The Benchmark Company

I have known Paul Workman 27 years, have observed his business skills and visited with him concerning politics. I know him to be conservative in political views and prudent in business decisions.

Harvey Ford

Paul is a true Texan who will work hard to serve us in the time honored tradition of Lawrence Sullivan Ross - “soldier, statesman and knightly gentleman” … not a doubt in my mind.

Bill Walker

I have known Paul Workman since 1975. I have never heard anyone speak badly of him, only compliments.

James Humphries

I have known Paul Workman for many years, and I can tell you that he is a no-nonsense conservative thinker. He has more than enough business experience to give him a broad and realistic picture of both his district and the rest of the state as well. He believes in free enterprise, individual liberty, and hard work, and he has walked with those fundamental beliefs in his business and his politics for decades.

Sam N. Beecroft

Paul Workman is a man of integrity, sincerity, and strong intellect. He cares about all people, and he believes in taking an active role in our political process. Paul Workman understands the importance of being a citizen representative and knows that bipartisan solid leadership is what the people of our State and Nation are looking for and expect. Labels are inconsequential when he is definitely the person to best represent this District.

HECTOR GUTIERREZ JR.

As a business owner I can testify to the conservative values of Paul Workman. We have worked together in the Associated General Contractors of America and he has always demonstrated through action not words that his basic values are conservative and he believes in smaller government and individual responsibility.

John M. Braun

I’ve known Paul for at least 15 years - through business and personally. I believe his life’s work and accomplishments are testament to his conservative background, and believe he is well-suited to advance the reasoned and pragmatic agenda currently needed in the Texas Legislature.

David Stauch

As an architect and owner of a local architectural business, I've known Paul for more than a decade first via a business relationship with the construction firm and then on a personal level. I know of no one who I would trust more to fight for and uphold the core conservative and free market principles that have made Texas the envy of the nation for the past century.

Gary Payne

I have always found Paul Workman to be a man of vision and a man of action to see those visions become realities. His leadership has helped to move forward or enact numerous responsible, conservative causes. Paul's actions have always been consistent with his visions and his conservative beliefs.

Ron Albee, PE

I have worked with Paul Workman for several years on the state board for Associated General Contractors, representing commercial builders of Texas on legislative efforts. He is not only a successful businessman but has been a hard working, level headed, conservative voice for our industry. He takes the time to actually learn the issue from every aspect, listen to others opinions and make his own informed decisions.

Paul Waldrop, Jr.

I have known Paul Workman for about a quarter of a century, both personally and in his business, and I know him to be a true conservative. Paul is thoughtful and careful, and rather than adopting a viewpoint popular at the moment has always been one who took the time to understand an issue. He would identify the way to handle it that recognized personal responsibility, shied away from government involvement, and was cautious in a way that allowed him to see all the facts before jumping to a conclusion. To my way of thinking, Paul's approach to his family, his community, and his business has always been to trod the conservative path.

Brian S. Greig

It has been my pleasure to call Paul Workman a friend for over 20 years. I know him to be the kind of salt of the earth conservative I want representing me and my family in the 47th district. If you are in favor of less government, lower taxation on business enabling job creation and a devotion to the principles that formed this great state, he’s your man.

Cliff Collier

I cannot believe that your opponent can, with a straight face, call you liberal Paul. Why even back when we were in college (1970 - 1973) when many students were marching and demonstrating against the war in Viet Nam, the only marching you did was in the Corp of Cadets at Texas A&M University. I remember that when we went home between semesters you went off to camp (refresh my memory) for the airborne rangers? I can honestly say that you're one of the most conservative men I have ever known.

Lee Brandon

Some people pay slick marekting professionals or image consultants to help establish their conservative credentials. People like Paul, earned them. Successful businessman, job creator, long family roots in the community, and common sense conservative values. Enough said.

The Chavez Family

I have worked in the construction industry with Paul Workman for the past 20 years. Paul is a hard working man of integrity, who is gifted with good common sense and great organizational skills. I have no doubt that he will bring those skills to our state government along with his strong conservative values.

William McAdoo

No way Paul could be a liberal, he went to A&M back in the day before liberals were allowed on campus! Paul is a developer…that is the opposite of a liberal, especially in Austin!

Eric Layne, CCIM

I have known Paul Workman for over 20 years, working actively with him as a member of the Rotary Club of Austin...hardly a liberal front organization. Paul served a term as President of the club and did a fine job...he's a real leader. I note with disgust the charges by Paul's opponent that he is a liberal. It's obvious to me, she chooses to know nothing of Paul's conservative credentials. Like Paul, I have, from time to time, made contributions to politicians whose overall philosophy was different than mine. These were made to local political leaders who were making positive contributions toward solving local problems...former Mayor and Senator Kirk Watson is such an individual. Neither Paul nor I support the tenets of liberalism as exemplified by the Democrat Party. I suggest Paul's opponent find something of substance to contest his candidacy instead of hurling false and misleading charges. He is a fine man, a good husband, and a strong leader...he has my unqualified support.

George L McGonigle, PE, DD

I have know Paul Workman for over 20 years and he is definitely conservative in his views on business and life.

For those who are interested:

I got to know Paul first many years ago through a business relationship between his company and the company I worked for at the time. As we began to meet more frequently throughout this two to three year period, Paul began to open up about things impacting his company, his employees and his family. As he did this, he also began to question my own feelings about how decisions in my company were impacting me and others I worked with. Throughout this period I came to respect Paul as a man who had a deeper interest in others than himself, a respect for fairness rather than bias, an ethic that values hard honest work over quick gain and a loyalty to those who had treated him with these same values. He expressed a leadership quality that evidenced itself as he hired members of his own family into positions of great responsibility in his company, not because they were members of his family, but because they too shared the same values and ethics that governed his life.

I was made aware of a meeting Paul initiated with a handful of men in the area that had lost their jobs to discuss the new opportunities each was pursuing and to offer advice or options to those in attendance. I spoke to Paul recently and he continues to have that same concern for others, that same respect for fairness and he continues to value that same hard work ethic over a long time that reaps rewards for people. When my employment changed and Paul’s company no longer did business with my employer, Paul continued to stay in contact with me and share his concern for government overreach into the lives of citizens, government overreach into the ability of businessmen to offer a fair wage to themselves and to their employees, and government overreach into wealth redistribution that continues to be at the root of the changes today.

My feeling is that Paul will make an excellent representative for the people in this district and will stand for conservative values that create an environment for people to succeed, but not to be take care of or taken advantage of by the government. And because of that and because of how he has conducted his affairs with me, Paul Workman will get my vote in the upcoming election. I encourage you to vote for Paul with me.

I have known Paul and Sherry Workman for many years. Paul is a conservative, a very successful businessman as a General Contractor, and he understands what it takes things get done. He will be an excellent representative for District 47 where I live.

Bert Pence

I have worked for and with Paul in the past. In each instance Paul’s philosophical approach was grounded in two of the most basic conservative premises: do what is right and do it as cost effectively as possible.

Ray Head

Paul,

I don't know how anyone would classify you as a liberal and anyone that does know you well knows what a strong conservative you are. We have served on the Board of Directors together at CompGroup for over 8 years and you have always held your ground on issues in nothing but a conservative way. I wish you the best of luck in this run-off campaign.

Paul,

I am grateful for your interest and commitment to help with the future of this great state of ours. In the 25 years that I have worked with you on legislative issues you have always been a tireless volunteer to help our industry by limiting government intervention and being the voice of reason. Based on your proven conservative beliefs, your commitment to family and your Christian kindness I am honored to support you on your journey to the capital. It is always refreshing to have someone of your caliber come out of industry and be willing to run for a better Texas.

Thanks

“As a former employee, I can attest to the solid character of Paul Workman as a family man, conservative, and a man of integrity. Paul has always been innovative, creative, a leader in his church and community, and generous of his time and talents. He will serve his district well because he is dedicated to all his endeavors and will be committed to ensure that Texas prospers.”

Lorraine Haby, Kerrville

I am a grassroots Republican, Precinct Chair of Pct. 207 in Williamson County. Paul Workman is a rock-ribbed conservative whose life is a testimony to his beliefs. Faith, family, community and country have been the focus of Paul's life. He is the kind of man we need in our legislature.

Wesley C. Griffin

Paul Workman is the best candidate for the Republican nomination for Texas House District 47. Paul is a true conservative who has decades of community service and a strong track record as a successful business person with impeccable integrity.

Tim Taylor

I have worked with Paul since 1993 and his consistent, conservative leadership has resulted in one of the best insurance programs for Texas contractors. He has committed his time and resources to work throughout the entire commercial construction industry to provide business owners with an option for competitive workers’ compensation coverage. One that not only was cost effective to the business’, but provided quality, focused medical care for their employees.

Julie K. Schatz

I know Paul Workman through business and church relationships. Paul is a certified conservative who supports his local politicians because Austin is where he lives.

Chip Graves

As a retired subcontractor manager, I know what it means to be conservative. Paul workman could not have had the success in business, church, professional associations, civic groups and family without his conservatism. He is being criticized for having a heart. He is rock solid, a true conservative.

Robert Pigg

The question of Paul Workman being a liberal based on the fact he made some small donations to democrats in the past is absurd. Like Paul, I have made similar contributions because I thought that particular candidate or office holder would do their best to improve conditions in the construction industry. If you ask any of my friends or family if I am a liberal, they would laugh at you.

Paul Workman is a major competitor to my business and I support him because I know him as a man of integrity, and for his conservative values. If all my competitors were like Paul, commercial construction in Austin would be a better place.

Jim McComb

I have known Paul for many years as a fellow Rotarian, businessman, family man, and conservative Republican. Paul exhibits the principles and leadership we need to keep Texas conservative, free enterprise friendly and economy driven, and morally strong. We need Paul Workman and others like him to lead Texas and show our leaders in Washington what government “for the people” really means. Please vote on April 13th and let your voice be heard.

Don Ray George

"For Holly White Turner to call Paul Workman a "liberal" means that she obviously does not know her opponent. If she does not know her opponent, she likely does not know the constituency in that district. But why would a carpet bagger from Fort Worth know what the southern Travis County district was like anyway?"

K. Paul Holt
President/CEO
Central Texas Chapter AGC

As a former Republican elected official from Travis County I can honestly say that I would not be supporting Paul Workman if his conservative principals were in question. To try and persuade someone to think otherwise would simply be being very disingenuous!!

Gerald Daugherty
former Travis County Commissioner Pct.3

I have known Paul Workman for over 20 years. His impressive record as a business and civic leader in Central Texas certainly qualifies him to serve the people of District 47. He will be an outstanding legislator - knowledgeable, fair-minded, conservative and determined to do what is best for Texas.

Glenn E. West

Paul Workman is committed to common sense solutions to address congested roads, improve the quality of our schools, and expand access to good jobs. In these tough economic times, we need his entrepreneurial expertise in the Texas House.
